ANSAP launches website!

The Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines, Inc. (ANSAP, Inc.) finally makes it presence felt in cyberspace with the launching of their official website at http://www.ansap.org.ph today. The ANSAP in partnership with Belen Marketing Consultancy had a soft launching of ANSAP.org.ph during ANSAP’s Mid-Year Convention at the Manila Hotel last August 15, 2008.

ANSAP.org.ph aims “to help registered nurses on their concerns regarding the association, profession, opportunities, and just about anything” through the website and the ANSAP E-Forum. With the launching of its website, ANSAP which is the only nursing organization in the Philippines mandated to facilitate and administer IVT trainings will surely help colleagues in the safe nursing practice of intravenous therapy.

Atlantis Resort in Dubai Opens

I saw this news from TV and I was soooo fascinated in the extravagant massive pyromusical show in the opening of the billion-dollar resort in Dubai - say hello to Atlantis. Located at The Palm, this five stars resort also includes a water theme park (160,000 square meters), a conference center, and 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of retail space. Heres the incredible footage of grand opening of the Atlantis that shows the entire Palm Jumeirah lit up by fireworks at the climax of the evening:

Things patients DON’T want to hear in Surgery

Better save that. We’ll need it for the autopsy.

Someone call the janitor - we’re going to need a mop.

“Accept this sacrifice, O Great Lord of Darkness”

Bo! Bo! Come back with that! Bad Dog!

Wait a minute, if this is his spleen, then what’s that?

Hand me that….uh….that uh….thingie.

Oh no! I just lost my Rolex.

Oops! Hey, has anyone ever survived 500ml of this stuff before?

Darn, there go the lights again…

Ya know, there’s big money in kidneys. Heck, the guy’s got two of ‘em.

Everybody stand back! I lost my contact lens!

Could you stop that thing from beating? It’s throwing my concentration off..

What’s this doing here?

I hate it when they’re missing stuff in here..

That’s cool! Now can you make his leg twitch?!

I wish I hadn’t forgotten my glasses.

Well folks, this will be an experiment for us all.

Sterile, shcmerile. The floor’s clean, right?

Anyone see where I left that scalpel?

And now we remove the subject’s brain and place it in the body of the ape. OK, now take a picture from this angle.

This is truly a freak of nature.

This patient has already had some kids, am I correct?

Nurse, did this patient sign the organ donation card?

Don’t worry. I think it is sharp enough.

What do you mean “You want a divorce”!

She’s gonna blow! Everybody take cover!!!

FIRE! FIRE! Everyone get out now!!

Darn! Page 47 of the manual is missing!

Bliss MP4 Player & Toblerones

I got a Bliss MP4 Player from Kuya Jonathan (from Korea) & Toblerone chocolates from Kuya Marlon (from Greece)! Its a coincidence that they’re arrived together on the same date and time!

Bliss MP4 Player

The player uses infrared touch screen technology. It means that it requires  a ‘finger touch’ and will not operate on a gloved hand or with a mechanical stylus. It has only 1GB built-in storage capacity with additional SD card external slot (wala pa ako, ang mahal kasi eh!). It support MP3, WMA, WAV, and AMV (video) formats. It also view pictures in JPG, GIF, & BMP formats. It also comes with built in MIC, USB2.0 & FM Radio (duh, bat walang AM!).

Toblerones

My favorite chocolate, especially the Swiss White ones! And I got some phrases for you:

Toblerone was created by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann in Bern, Switzerland in 1908. They developed a unique milk chocolate including nougat, almonds and honey with a distinctive triangular shape. The product’s name is a portmanteau combining Tobler’s name with the Italian word torrone (a type of nougat). The image of a bear is hidden in the Matterhorn mountain symbolizing the town of its origin.

Theodor Tobler applied for a patent for the Toblerone manufacturing process in Bern in 1906. The Toblerone brand was trademarked in 1909, at the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property in Bern. Albert Einstein was employed there as a patent clerk at the time.

Thanks Kuyas for the MP4 player & tsokolates!

Passing the NLE…

Fourth year ako sa FEU-IN when Dean Annabelle Borromeo (RN, PhD, CCRN, CNS, CPAN) wrote an inspirtional, rather an igniting call to every student’s soul to bring out their passion for their chosen profession - nursing. For me, na challenge talaga ako na pumasa sa NLE by making a gold objective: to top the board exam! I know this is impossible for me since hindi naman maganda ang academic performance ko sa university.

“Para makapasa ka, aim for the Top 10! Kung hindi mo nakayanan, at least pasado ka.”
And thats what I did. After becoming an alumni of my alma mater FEU-IN, I entered the Royal Pentagon Review Specialist, going to UE theatre at 8:00 in the morning, home sweet home at 7:00 in the evening, review until 9, sleep for 4-5 hours, wake up at 1:00 am to review until I go to UE theatre again. I did it everyday and fortunately my body easily adjusted to the circadian rhythm. At dumating na nga ang The Big Day…

I don’t feel any stress days before and during the exam. Meron nga akong motto that time: Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. And after looong days of waiting, lumabas na ang result:

Pasado ako! Sumigaw ako nung moment na makita ko ang pangalan ko sa list of passers.Nagising at bumaba sina Mama at Tito Jing dahil sa sigaw ko. I was hugged by my mom nung malaman nila na pasado ako. I felt lighted.

Ian F. Lim, BSN, RN

Teka, may nakalimutan ako. Hindi nga pala ako nakasama sa Top 10. Sayang.

I expected the the other batch of FEU-IN to continue the legacy that we started. Simula pa lang ang tunay na laban! To all batch 2009 and upwards of FEU-IN, God bless and good luck!

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.

FEU Tamaraw United

Tamawow! It aims aims to unite all Tams online to discuss various ideas, grievances, and any other topics they wish to talk about not limited within the walls of the university.

WHY TAMBAYAN?

TAMBayan, a fusion of two terms, namely Tamaraw (FEU’s mascot in sports events and considered as the university icon), and Bayan,Tagalog for community or group with common ideals. The term was suggested initially by Aldrin Vasquez, RN, one of the founders of the website and an alumnus of the Institute of Nursing, and former artist and associate web editor of The Advocate. The administrators launched an online poll regarding the website’s new official name or identity last May 20, 2007, wherein other terms such as Piyo, Piyu, and Silanganan were also suggested. The term TAMBayan prevailed, as voted by the forum members, which suggests that the website would be a place to hang out online.

HISTORY

The FEU TAMBayan has been online since September 25, 2006. The website started out as an online forum alone of The Advocate, official student publication of Far Eastern University - Manila, and was named The Advocate General Discussion Forum, with Engel Ang Tong from the Institute of Arts and Sciences, and as The Advocate’s first web editor and Aldrin Vasquez, RN as the associate web designer. As months passed the forum has grown in terms of number of members and topics. However, in the year 2007 the forum eventually was invaded with spam messages causing the forum, along with The Advocate website, to be temporarily suspended. After a few consultations with The Advocate Editorial Board by Christian Evasco from the Institute of Arts and Sciences and one of the founders of The FEU TAMBayan, on May 15, 2008, the forum has been successfully transferred to its own domain online, www.tamarawbayan.com, to avoid any spamming incidents that might again suspend The Advocate’s website.

WHY TAMARAWBAYAN.com AND NOT FEUTAMBAYAN.com?

The website administrators removed the term FEU from the suggested domain name in order to welcome interested non-FEU students or graduates to the website, as long as they know how to respect FEU, its students and alumni.

Nung nakuha ko ang PRC License Card ko, nagpa-register ng IVT Training sa Lung Center of the Philippines at nagpa-member sa Philippine Society of Emergency Care Nurse

November 3, 2008

Ang dami nangyari sa araw na ito. 1 lose and 3 wins. Here’s why:

AFP Medical Center (V. Luna General Hospital)

What’s next? Umalis na kami hahaha! 1 lose!

Professional Regulation Commision (PRC)

1 win!

Tumawag kami sa mga hospitals that offer IVT training. Puno na sa AFPMC, Ospital ng Maynila, Philippine Heart Center, mrtinez Memorial Hospital, atbp. Pero open ang Lung Center of the Philippines! Isa pa, only those who have PRC License Card will be entertained! Buti nakuha na namin ang sa amin! So as fast as we can, para kaming naglalaro ni Faye sa Amazing Race papuntang LCP.

Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP)

Nagbayad kami ng P1,700 for training (December 9-11), excluded pa ang completion which is P500. Waaaaahhh! Survivor series na ‘to!

Philippine General Hospital (PGH)

Meron silang seminar about Triage and Burn Nursing sa Nov. 21, parang gusto kong pumunta and ignore FEU-NAF’s  seminar.

Thank You

emo_love--large-msg-118195598084.jpg

I never thought life could be this good
Especially when you have someone to share things with
I never thought that life could be though
Especially when you’re always done
Until the day you came and changed my life
You made me stand on my own
And you made me face the fears
You’re the one who showed me love
Like an angel from above
Who always sticks by my side
Thank you for being there
And thanks for letting me know you care
And lifting me up every time I fall
And most of all –
Thanks for telling the world that I exist.
